We finished watching Blue Zones last night. All sorts of good stuff about health and longevity. I won’t spoil the fun tips for longevity, but the main takeaway? The stuff that makes you live longer is the stuff that makes life worth living in the first place. Can you believe it?!
Talked with a patient the other day. He wasn’t expecting to receive a bill for his X-Ray, especially since he has secondary insurance, too. Bill showed up, what can we do? Not as much as we could’ve before the bill, but we’ll work on it. Next time, he plans to call the Estimates office and run it by his insurance, too. And ask Medicare for an advocate.
Talked with a friend this week who had some symptoms, went to the doctor. Doctor said, “Let’s look into it.” Scopes, imaging, discomfort. Sounded like an episode of The Magic School Bus. Did the whole workup, found nothing. So why all the symptoms, then? Not sure. Weird! What’s next? Monitor the situation. Just me, or does this feel unsatisfactory?
What COULD it have been? Doc, have you seen this sort of thing before? If yes, how did it play out 6 months after all this stuff? A year? 5 years? If no, no sweat. Know anyone who has? Or should I find my own provider for a second opinion?
When your doctor says they don't know why it's happening...what do you do next?
Any of these people sound like something you’re working on? Want to have a conversation?
